Meditative Offering - Esraj

Anas Ahmed, an emerging Esraj player, from Delhi Gharana. Esraj is an instrument that belongs to the family of string instruments, originated in India often used in Hindustani classical, folk music and Sikh music traditions. It has a soundbox made of wood and a long neck, similar to a Sitar or a Sarod. It typically has a set of metal strings that are played with a bow, producing a rich and resonant sound.

Anas Ahmed is on a transformative journey to carve his own niche in the realm of Hindustani classical and contemporary music. Guided by the expert tutelage of his mentor, Shri Arshad Khan Ji, widely celebrated as one of the nation's premier esraj players, Anas is not only learning the intricate techniques of Esraj but is also imbibing the wisdom and artistic nuances passed down through generations by his grandfather, Ustad Allauddin Khan, in his family.

Immerse your senses in a soothing Esraj recital at this week's Sureela Saturday.
