Our Vision
At Naadvistaar we sincerely believe in the transformative power of music and its ability to balance, heal and expand our beings. The intention behind the formation of Naadvistaar is to share the art, craft and wisdom reposed within the myriad music traditions of India with their true seekers and admirers. In sync with that belief, we intend to train one and all with the same seriousness and respect that we have been bestowing to each individual learner over the years. It is our deeply held opinion that Electronic or Software based music must never be the first introduction to the world of music for any listener, especially children, who may be seeking to develop their aural senses and eventually themselves become musicians. Rather, the human voice and hand made musical instruments be given play a foundational role in their development.

What We Do
Naadvistaar Foundation is an alternative space for experiencing and interiorising music ensconced in the beauty and solitude of a heritage locale in the heart of Delhi, yet away from its hustle-bustle. Set in the backdrop of the spectacular Humayun's Tomb, to its north, the Khan-I-Khanan Tomb to its south and the shrine of Nizamuddin Auliya to its west, it sits at the crossroads of an important historical renaissance.
Housed in a unique, period construction replete with performance spaces, classrooms, terraces, a library and activity areas for children, Naadvistaar is a vibrant space conducive to learning and appreciating the myriad musical forms that have thrived in our land since time immemorial.
In May 2022, the foundation opened its doors to all those seeking a deeper engagement with the ancient classical and folk music traditions of India. To address the needs of those who come to us, we have devised learner-led, customised modules tailored to the individual pupils based on their level, orientation and skill.
In addition to our music training programs, regular gatherings showcasing the finest artists of the Gharanas or musical lineage, go along with the teaching as a parallel means of imbibing this precious aural legacy.
In the brief time frame we have been functioning, interest has already been shown by various national and international institutions and organisations such as UNESCO, The Raza Foundation, Alliance Française, Learning Matters among others for collaboration and co-curated programming for furthering the cause of preserving and disseminating the oral intangible and syncretic musical heritage of India.
Over the course of several baithaks, workshops, masterclasses and special events, Naadvistaar has hosted various dignitaries from the embassies of United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Poland, Switzerland etc. who have appreciated and contributed to our efforts.
During the year, we have invited talented maestros for our exclusive baithaks and mehfils. Held each month, these intimate gatherings present a curated set of artists and maestros. This event requires participant registration along with a suggested donation.
Afternoon meditative musical offerings, a pilot project envisaged by our founding patron, are held twice a week - Tarana Tuesdays and Thaat Thursdays. Primarily exhibiting the vast repertoire of instrumental music from various parts of the country, these sessions are open to all and especially designed to serve as an avenue for young and emerging artists to build an audience for themselves.
Our regular music lessons conducted by an empanelled acharya mandal, serves the twin purpose of providing a sustainable livelihood to hereditary music practitioners and gurus as well as facilitate bringing them together with those that wish to avail the benefits of their wisdom.
A music festival to celebrate and promote the traditional, classical and folk musical heritage of India is being planned as an annual event with its debut slated for the calendar year 2024.
Masterclasses and workshops that benefit both beginners as well as advanced learners in gaining an in-depth understanding of traditional Hindustani classical music have become a regular feature of our schedule.
Promoting and supporting craftsmen and luthiers who have been making musical instruments using the traditional methods of their forefathers by arranging regular expositions are also a vital part of our activities.
