Naadvistaar is very excited to hosting an event featuring the noted mystic musician Shaykh Issa Nessim Baba from Turkey. Having drunk from the spiritual wellspring of none other than Mevlana Rumi, Shaykh Issa, a guru in his own right brings with him a deep understanding of the rich heritage of classical, folk and Sufi music from Anatolia, Asia Minor and beyond.

As versatile young scholar and practitioner who has spent more than a decade studying the intricate nuances of Classical Ottoman and Sufi music, both in California as well as in the centuries-old Sufi lodges of timeless cities such as Istanbul, Amman and Ajmer, Shaykh Issa will between 4 pm and 6 pm, lead an intensive session delving into the modes and microtones of the Makam (Raga) tradition and sharing his vast knowledge of melodic structures, compositions and their evolution over the centuries.

Later in the evening, starting at 7 PM, Shaykh Issa and his ensemble "Ashiqaan" will offer a mesmeric and transformative Zikr ceremony, endeavouring to connect with the divine through the power of musical repetition.
